Much of what we've hrd about the upcoming DC from Bryan Cranston being Lex Luthor (ok, rlly?), the "relsed" schedule (we don't know if it's true!), to Dwayne Johnson being Shazam (what the heck were you guys thinking?!) is speculation. Lex Luthor we now know to be Jesse Eisenburg (good choice) and The Rock as Black Adam (mind-blowing choice!).Yet amongst all of those, one rumor that stood out to me was the supposed casting of Ray Fisher as Cyborg. I immediately looked this guy up and an of Martian Manhunter popped in my mind.Yes, THAT Martian Manhunter. If true, not only would Justice Lgue be the first time we see DC's celebrated superhero tm united for the first time on the big screen, but it would also be the first time we see Martian Manhunter on the silver screen. Remember "reports" have indied that Fisher will play Cyborg. Warner Bros. has not confirmed anything yet, even Jason Momoa playing Aquaman. I'll have you know mirroring reports said Cranston was going to play Luthor and Billy Zane to portray Lex Luthor.Again let me reiterate:Nothing in terms of recent casting, story, or lineup has been confirmed by Warner Bros. and DC, who should be considered the ultimate authority when determining these things. The exception has been Jesse Eisenberg as Luthor and The Rock as Black Adam. Lots of "s" also said various other actors, including Joe Manganiello, were in the hunt or confirmed to play Batman before Ben Affleck signed on. The same for Wonder Woman and others. Take everything with a grain of salt. But let's pretend, for article's sake, that Ray Fisher has indeed been cast to play a hero, just not Cyborg. Here are my rsons that Ray Fisher will indeed play Martian Manhunter:1. David S. Goyer Wants it to Happen!Wouldn't you?In a recent interview (and by recent, I mn four or five months ago) Goyer outlined his desire to have J'onn J'onzz depicted on the big screen:“Well, he hasn’t been rebooted but he’s a mainstay in the Justice Lgue. He can’t be f***ing called the Martian Manhunter because that’s goofy. He can be called Manhunter… The whole dl with Martian Manhunter is he’s an alien living amongst us… So he comes down to rth and decides, unlike Superman who alrdy exists in the world now, that he’s just going to be a homicide detective… So instd of using super-powers and mind-rding and like, oh, I could figure out if the President’s lying or whatever, he just decides to disguise himself as a human homicide detective. Dare to drm!”While I disagree about him not using his powers even in a limited capacity in human form, it goes to show that DC is considering adapting Manhunter to the . If not a solo , at lst to appr in all the Justice Lgue .Ray Fisher would add a certain gravitas and intensity that J'onn needs. Which lds to my next point:2. Ray Fisher has the chops to play him!Watch out! From what I've rd, Ray Fisher is a grt dramatic actor. The above scene is from "Fetch Clay, Make Man." An off-Broadway production in which he starred as Muhammad Ali. Obviously, he buffed up a bit to portray Ali. Martian Manhunter, like all superheroes, need to appr strong, so Fisher has got it down pat. But as always he can get bigger. But back to acting chops. Martian Manhunter is a very serious character. Being a stage actor, Fisher will bring the gravitas needed to properly the character J'onn J'onzz deserves.3. It makes more sense!EPICHaving Martian Manhunter appr as a founding member of the Justice Lgue would be a competitive step by DC to introducing more African-American actors in more prominent superhero roles. PLUS it would reintroduce an entire eration of young and old viewers to a character with impressive powers and a rich back-story that could be delved into with grt detail with a or adequate characterization in a Justice Lgue (s).ConclusionWith new advances in CGI footage Martian Manhunter could very much appl to the 30 and below age group, a core audience for modern marketers. If Warner Bros. wants to introduce Cyborg, it should be in a later Justice Lgue 2 or so it is indeed true that Ray Fisher has been cast, I hope it has been with a mind toward my favorite Martian J'onn J'onzz. Thanks for rding.Check out the poll and comment below. I'd like to see what you guys think.
